Corporate Policy Group (CPG)
The Corporate Policy Group (C.P.G.) like the Strategic Policy Copmmittees (S.P.C) was born out of the "Better Local Government - A Programme for Change" proposal, designed to enhance the democratic remit and policy making role of the elected members. The C.P.G. is a committee made up by the Cathaoirleach of the Council and the Chairs of each of the Strategic Policy Committees.
The C.P.G. links the work of the different S.P.C.’s acts as a sort of cabinet and provides a forum where policy positions affecting the whole Council can be agreed for submission to the full Council which will retain the decision making authority. The C.P.G. also monitors the performance of the local authority and play a key role in preparing the budget.
