Welcome to Limerick County Council’s sixth Autumn Music at Castleconnell Series and we invite you to join us on the second Tuesday of each month, commencing on September 13th in the beautiful setting of All Saints’ Church, Castleconnell.
Our focus for Autumn 2011 will be on music from the Baroque era (1600-1750). There was a very enthusiastic audience response to the performance of the “Mystery Sonatas” by baroque composer Heinrich Biber (1644-1704) by violinist Maya Homburger and members of Camerata Kilkenny during Holy Week in 2010. This was one of the main reasons leading to our decision to take a wider look at music from the period.
The aim of Limerick County Council Arts Office in presenting the series is to give music lovers in the County the opportunity to enjoy a broad range of classical chamber music in a venue that is comfortable and intimate, and with excellent acoustics. This year we feature musicians not only from Ireland but also from England, Japan, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Finland. Equally, to add to the international flavour, we will hear music by leading baroque composers from France, Italy, Germany and Scotland.
The Autumn Music at Castleconnell Series is an initiative of Limerick County Council Arts Office with the support of a number of people and organisations. I would like to thank Tony Rodgers once again for his enthusiastic assistance in formulating the programme and organising the concerts. I want to welcome all our visiting musicians to Castleconnell and thank them for their wholehearted commitment to the series. I also gratefully acknowledge the continuing and essential financial assistance from The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
And to Rev. Stephen White, Rector, and the community of All Saints’ Church, Castleconnell, thank you most sincerely for your support.
We hope you will join us on Tuesday 13th September at 8.00pm for the launch of the series by the Irish Baroque Orchestra Chamber Soloists under the direction of the renowned violinist Monica Huggett.
