The Business Support Unit (BSU) is to act as point of contact within Limerick County Council to facilitate and encourage economic and business development in County Limerick. The Unit will ensure a quick and co-ordinated response to existing and prospective businesses by acting as an interface with local authority systems e.g. Planning, Water Services, Environment, Roads, etc.
Working with other Agencies & Partners
The Business Support Unit also works in co-operation with a number of other public agencies such as the IDA, Enterprise Ireland, Limerick County Enterprise Board and Local Development Companies to assist and support projects and entrepreneurs in the county.
The Unit will also links with local Chambers of Commerce, employers’ groups, community enterprise groups and other interested parties to further develop County Limerick as a business location.
Ensuring Availability of Land and Commercial Property for Economic Development
Working closely with the Limerick County Council Planning Section and elected members, we aim to ensure that adequate serviced land is available to satisfy the needs of businesses.
In conjunction with the Planning Authority, we aim to facilitate business during the planning process by offering relevant advice and assistance. The Council’s project team is also available to consider and advise on major business proposals, which impact on a variety of service areas. 
Land, Infrastructure and Services to Support Economic Development
The Business Support Unit will liaise with the Roads, Water & Environment Sections of the Council to ensure adequate infrastructure is developed and maintained to support commercial activities.
In addition the Unit will work with other service companies such as broadband providers to improve connectivity and communications infrastructure for businesses throughout the county.
Promoting County Limerick as a Location for Business and Investment
The Business Support Unit also works with other agencies to promote and highlight the many advantages County Limerick has to offer business, whether starting out, expanding or re-locating.
