How are Water Charges Calculated
|
The operational costs include both a fixed cost element and a variable cost element.
Fixed Cost Limerick County Council recovers its fixed costs through the standing charge. Please note that every utility provider has elements of fixed and variable costs and most major utility providers in this county recover some of its fixed costs through a standing charge or similar system (e.g. electricity, eircom, gas). The standing charge is currently €100.00 per 6 months.
Variable Cost The variable cost element consists of a charge for water in and for water out. The charge for water in is €1.15 per cubic meter of water supplied. In respect of connections to the Council Sewerage Network €1.45 per cubic meter of water supplied to or used on the premises is charged.
Any customer, being charged for water, who has a domestic connection to the public water supply on that meter, is entitled to a Domestic Allowance only on the condition that the premise is occupied. The allowance is 114 m3 per 6 months. If you are currently in receipt of a Domestic Allowance, this will be reflected on your bill.
Customers are billed on meter readings twice a year i.e. 31st December and 30th June.
