First Learner Permit
A first Learner Permit is valid for two years.
Persons applying for their first Learner Permit are required to produce the following.
- Theory Test Pass Statement:- Ring 1890 60 61 06 to book a test appointment.
- Application Form:- You may apply for a licence to drive:
(a)category A1,A,B,M,W, without any previous driving experience. (b)Category C1,C,D1,D after you have a full B licence. (c)category EB,EC1,EC,ED1,ED after you have been granted a licence in the relevant drawing vehicle,eg. C to get EC.
- Eyesight Report:- Valid for 1 month, this report is necessary if you apply for categories A1,A,B,M,W, without any previous driving experience.
- Medical Report: If you wish to apply for Higher Categories or have a Medical Condition.
- Two identical Passport Photographs:- The reverse of both photographs must be signed by you.
- Passport or birth certificate:- As evidence of identity. These must be originals.
- Fee:- €15.00 No fee for applicants over 70 years of age.
- PPSN(Formerly called your RSI number).
Please note that persons granted a Learner Permit must be accompanied by a qualified driver.
This currently applies to 1st and 3rd and subsequent Learner Permits.
As of 1st July, 2008, all holders of a Learner Permit must be accompanied by a qualified driver.
Code 999 means you must be accoumpanied by a qualified driver.
