Newcastle West - Machinery Maintenance Depot



Limerick County Councils new Machinery Maintenance Depot was officially opened by An Cathaoirleach, Mr. Eddie Wade, M.C.C., at Sheehan’s Road, Newcastle West on Thursday the 30th September 2004. This new premises built at a cost of approximately €1.5 million is a state of the art facility incorporating the latest garage technology which has become necessary for the maintenance of the Councils specialised fleet of plant and equipment.

The construction of this new machinery depot means that all maintenance will now be carried out at the new premises in Sheehans Road. The old Machinery Yard located in Bishop Street, Newcastle West which has been in use for the past 100 years has now been sold to the Revenue Commissioners under the National Decentralisation Programme.

The main Contractor for the construction of the new Machinery Maintenance Depot was Frank McGrath Construction, William Street, Limerick and the Design Team leader was Architect Michael Healy and Partners. Updating and Modernising the Machinery Depot's Plant

In keeping with Limerick County Council's policy of maintaining a modern up-to-date fleet of vehicles for its operations,  the Machinery Maintenance Depot has recently procured the following items of plant to compliment its existing fleet.
