Planning Enforcement

The Planning Authority in accordance with the statutory requirements under the Planning and Development Acts, 2000-2010 will seek to prevent unauthorised development.
Unauthorised development is where development is carried out without having received the appropriate permission or development not being carried out in compliance with the permission granted.
If you wish to make a complaint regarding possible unauthorised development please complete the complaint form (36KB doc file) and submit to the Planning Authority.
ENFORCEMENT PROCESS.
The Planning Authority will investigate all written complaints of unauthorised development.
Please note that complaints are dealt with in order of receipt and that it will take 5-6 weeks before the investigation is complete and the Planning Authority will notify the advisors of the outcome of the investigation.
A Warning Letter will issue within 6 weeks from receipt of representation if warranted. Where necessary an Enforcement Notice may be issued.
The matter can be referred for legal action should the warning letter and the enforcement notice not be complied with.
