Regional Road Signposting

Over the past few years the Council has undertaken a programme to improve the signposting on Regional Roads in the county. To date improved signage has been erected on the R524 Abbeyfeale to Glin,  R521 Newcastle West to Foynes, R522 Newcastle West to Dromcollogher roads, R512 Kilmallock to Limerick,  R513 Mitchelstown to Caherconlish,  R505 Doon to N24  and R506 Cappamore to Dromcollogher roads. In all improved signage have been provided over a distance of 185km of roadway by the end of 2009.
Funding for the signs has been provided by the Department of Transport as part of the allocation for Non-National roads, including an allocation of €150,000 in 2010. Designs are being prepared in respect of the roads to be improved in 2010 and the Council plans to continue with the upgrade of signage on other Regional Roads when funding allows.
