A dog licence is also available from all Post Offices, Limerick County Council Headquarters and at the following Area Offices : Rathkeale, Newcastle West, Annacotty, Kilmallock, and Croom. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, bank draft or Visa Cost
Following the commencement of the Dog Breeding Establishments Act, 2010 from the 1st of January, 2012 the cost of a dog licence has increased from €12.70 to €20.00. The General Licence for an unspecified amount of dogs (usually for at least 20 or more dogs) has increased from €253.95 to €400.00. This new Act also introduced a new Lifetime of Dog Licence for €140.00, to purchase a General or Lifetime of Dog Licence please contact the Veterinary Section at 061 49 63 78.
Dog Warden Service The income from dog licences helps to fund the Dog Warden Service in County Limerick. The Wardens may be contacted on 061 30 16 04. The Dog Pound, at Civic Amenity Campus, Mungret is open from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Please advise this office if your dog has died or is no longer in the household in order that the database can be up-dated accordingly.
